Three lost souls find one another...
...guitarist Todd Novak, despondent after quitting the Kevin Salem band on the
brink of stardom, stumbles upon bassman Ray Rainville, directionless following
his departure from international pop superstars NY Loose. The two rescue skin-pounder
Dave Richman from the depths of clinical depression in the wake of his dismissal
from grindcore icons Letters To Cleo.
Three lost souls find one another, and from their collective despair a new rock
is born ... melodic yet with piledriving power ... a bed of delicate rose petals
underpinned by bludgeoning rhythms.
In their first incarnation as Chorderoy, guitar-slinger Richard Lloyd plays
along for several months of gigs. Eventually, Leon Pierce, of Jayne County fame,
takes over on guitar and Chris Zuhr joins in on banjo (yes, banjo) to lighten
things up.
They then adopt as their moniker the name of imitation cowhide ... PLEATHER
... inexpensive but good-looking ... the great deceiver of fabrics...
Months pass ... tracks are layed down, gigs played, money spent, product delivered
... lo and behold, RAVENSCRAG, the aural document of their collective musical
therapy (with percussive assistance by Spencer James Cobrin, Morrissey's drummer)
appears in a cardboard crate on Todd's doorstep. Your
very own copy is only a few clicks away.
